The invitation

The island that captured our heart

This one is special. We travelled and worked in Barbados in 2018 and 2019, before the pandemic put a stop to it - and now we're finally going back, this time to welcome you to the island that captured our heart and soul, and that of our family.

For this retreat we're partnering with the world-famous Festival of Swimming and Swim Barbados to bring you into the crystal-clear, warm, tropical water. Take part in as much or as little as you like - daily 1.5 to 2.5km bay swims, organised 1.5km, 3.5km, 5km and the amazing 10km festival event. It's a friendly, inclusive series of swims welcoming people from all over the world.

Why this one

Not just a holiday -
a once in a lifetime trip

Once in a lifetime

Ten nights on an island we love, wrapped around a world-famous swim festival. Huge memories are guaranteed - the kind you'll still be talking about years from now.

All the island costs, taken care of

Villa, chef-made breakfasts, meals out, transfers, activities and festival entries - all in one price. You just get yourself here; we handle the rest.

Local experts and guides

Local swim guides and safety crews on every swim, plus islanders showing you the food, the rum, the history and the quiet bays only locals know.

An actual medal

Every Festival of Swimming swimmer takes home an actual medal for taking part - 1.5km, 3.5km, 5km or the big 10km. Proof of a very good week.

The rhythm of the retreat

Every day starts with yoga on our terrace with views of the Atlantic, followed by a chef-prepared breakfast. The full itinerary will be shared closer to the time.

  1. 01
    Barbados

Arrive · welcome to the island

Airport transfer to our private villa, welcome drink in hand. Time for a first dip in the pool and a slow stretch after the flight, before our chef serves a relaxed welcome dinner on the terrace as the island settles into the evening.

  2. 02
    West coast

First bay swim · history walk

Yoga on the terrace with the Atlantic in front of us, then a chef-made breakfast. Our first guided bay swim - 1.5 to 2.5km in warm, crystal-clear water with full safety cover. Lazy lunch nearby, then an afternoon Barbados history walking tour and dinner at a local independent restaurant.

  3. 03
    Pebbles Beach

Swim · SUP · Cutters Shack

Morning swim with paddleboard and kayak options for anyone wanting a different view of the water. Lunch at the legendary Cutters Shack on Pebbles Beach, then a guided food walking tour through Bridgetown - rum shops, fish cutters and island stories - before dinner at the villa.

  4. 04
    Carlisle Bay

Festival swims · Oistins Fish Fry

Our first Festival of Swimming events - the 1.5km and 3.5km, with coaches and safety crew beside you the whole way. Big lazy lunch after, an afternoon on the beach, then the night the whole island knows: the Oistins Fish Fry. A plate of island delicacies, a cold bottle of Banks beer, live music and dancing under the lights.

  5. 05
    Hidden coves

    Catamaran · turtles · shipwrecks

A full day on the water by catamaran. We drift over shipwrecks, swim with turtles, rays and tropical fish, and explore hidden coves and beaches only accessible from the sea. Lunch on board, rum punch in hand, and a quiet evening back at the villa.

  6. 06
    St Lucy

Long swim · Mount Gay rum

A longer guided swim for those taking on the 5km, or a shorter bay swim and paddleboard session. Afternoon visit to the Mount Gay distillery for their signature rum tasting tour - the world's oldest rum, and the story of the island in a glass. We finish in a quiet bay with a rum at our leisure as the sun goes down.

  7. 07
    The villa

    Rest day · pool coaching

A gentler day. Optional one-to-one coaching at the villa pool, yoga and stretching by the water, and treatments brought to you - in-villa massage, facials and nails. Lunch on our own terrace from our chef, and nothing scheduled after 4pm.

  8. 08
    Carlisle Bay

Festival of Swimming · the big one

The amazing 10km Festival of Swimming event - swim it, or join the support crew and cheer from a safety boat. Whatever your distance, this is the heart of the week. A celebration dinner back at the villa, chef-made, long and loud.

  9. 09
    East & interior

    Swim · jungle walk

A recovery swim or a snorkel session in the morning, then a gentle jungle and coastal walk through the greener side of the island. Dinner at one of our favourite local, independent restaurants - flying fish, macaroni pie and a sunset.

  10. 10
    The villa

    Final swim · farewell BBQ

One last morning swim, a final yoga session on the terrace, and a free afternoon to shop for crafts, sit on the beach or simply float by the pool. We close the week with a farewell BBQ on our own terrace, cooked by our chef, under the Caribbean stars.

  11. 11
    Barbados

    Breakfast · depart

A final chef-made breakfast, one last coffee with an ocean view, and a relaxed airport transfer - taking a piece of the island home with you.
